Home Teeth Whitening Kits Explained

More than 100,000 people across Britain alone try out teeth-whitening treatments every year; it’s big business.

Yellowing or grey teeth is enough to make anyone self-conscious. While the colour of your teeth is somewhat genetic, they can be stained over time by drinks such as coffee and red wine, as well as damaged by sugar-laden foods. They also seem to change colour as we age.

While dentists offer professional teeth whitening and laser whitening treatments in dental surgeries, more and more people are choosing the reasonably priced option of home teeth whitening instead using a tooth whitening kit.

If you’re thinking of giving home teeth whitening a go, you’re going to need some good independent advice.

We’ll bring you all the information you need to stay updated when choosing the right tooth whitening product for you. A recent game-changing EU law on tooth whitening, for instance, has completely altered the face of the industry. That’s the sort of thing you need to know…

The Law in Brief

The EU now specifies the percentage of hydrogen peroxide (the very effective substance that bleaches your teeth) that is allowed in teeth whitening products. Anything more than 6% is banned in the EU; dentists themselves are only allowed to use a solution of 6% hydrogen peroxide or less.

The good news is that it has put many of the cowboys offering potentially dangerous teeth whitening products out of business, making it safer for us all. The bad news, however, is that the law now only allows over-the-counter teeth whitening kits with a concentration of 0.1% hydrogen peroxide or less.

That wouldn’t be such a problem if hydrogen peroxide wasn’t the most effective bleaching agent known to man. As a result of the ruling, therefore, less effective non-peroxide kits have flooded the market, many of which do very little. Not that they’ll tell you that, of course. In such a challenging time, you’re going to need independent advice more than ever before.

What Are The Best Home Teeth Whitening Kits?

Talking of which, you’re probably keen to learn what the top-rated teeth whitening kits are. We’ve evaluated them all for ease of use, effectiveness, safety, reputation and value for money and we can tell you the winner stands out by a mile.

Dr George’s Dental White is not only great value for money with more gel than its competitors but it’s effective, quick and can lighten your teeth by up to 11 shades. Its effectiveness has been proven time and time again.

What’s more, it is the ONLY tooth whitening gel with peroxide (carbamide peroxide) that can legally be sold in the UK. That’s because the product is made and supplied by a dental surgeon (the carbamide peroxide included equates to less than 6% hydrogen peroxide).

There’s just no getting around it — it is simply much more effective than other over-the-counter tooth whitening products. Read our reviews and decide for yourself…
